Less is More – Declutter and Add a Splash of Colour to Your Home

Most people gather items, so it pays to declutter your living space regularly. This does not mean putting things away in a cupboard; it means getting rid of the stuff that you do not use. Stuff that is getting in the way, detracting the form of room, or are just collecting dust – get rid of them. You will feel a lot better, after you do so. Also these days, having a good clean out can be a good way to make money if you sell unnecessary items on websites. If you are among those people, who hate throwing things out, consider lending things to family members who may have a use for them, or else put a date tag on unused item. If you have not used it within six months, consider selling, or donating it to someone else. Eliminating clutter can make a previously overcrowded house feel positively huge, and provide some extra income from selling unnecessary items.

Paint makes the most dramatic change. A good way to make a statement in a room is by creating a feature wall. This can be achieved by painting a wall in a bold pattern to create a dramatic effect. Adding colours on the walls of your room can give an instant tonic for a tired room. However, it is important to select the correct colour, and pattern to provide the appropriate ambience required for that particular room. For example, horizontal stripes can give a striking new look to a room whereas painting the wall behind your bed in a vibrant colour like red could suddenly make your bed the focal point of the room.

If you want to add a splash of colour into your home, you could go out, and have ceiling and walls splashed with paint, which creates a fun, and vibrant room. It is ideal for bathrooms, and works wonderfully in bedrooms, where it may be easier to stick with two colours. Using white for the ceiling is a norm in many homes. So now, add a splash of colour, and while you lay in bed, you can simply look up at the splashes of paint on the ceiling. The big difference is that unlike the odd paint, which is plain, these are big, and bold and very deliberate.

Coloured bedding sets compliment the walls, and the flooring. In this regard, lime green can be used for the Venetian blinds. In some ways, this is a very plain design with no frills or fuss, but simply fun, and funky. Of course, you do not always have to use lime green, you can choose any colour you like just as long as it is bright, and bold. This style is perfect for bedrooms of teenagers, as they can be involved in painting the splashes!
